I thought there would be plenty off room once u angle the flange away from the head would the turbo not sit pretty close to where my screen wash bottle sits? i would remove that and relocate it.

Or do you mean not much room to get a down pipe from the turbo past the steering colum?

What about using a left hand drive manifold and turning it upside down?

The 525i petrol is being built as a (very) budget track car and I have also been thiking of fitting a turbo. I bought the manifold in the following pictures from ebay last year for just this purpose. There where a fex advertised at around the £120 mark though mine was less than half that as it was an unused second hand item.

    Hope this helps.

Yep they are the ones i have been looking at, but they are also for LHD so you will need to mod them? have you thought of how your goin mod it to fit any plans or anything?

    Yes downpipe.

there are only available LHD turbo manifolds , and most angle the turbo towards the block, this when flipped over makes it want to sit inside the head.

The cheap ebay one is the only cheap and modifiable to work as a top mount.
Then you have the downpipe problem.

I´ll be making a front bottom mount turbo for the E36 i´m turboing.

A guy on bmw5.co.uk purchased my m51 tds e34 manifold to rig up a turbo on his e28,he goes under the title bm0p700f .

He is/was going to have the manifold fitted up with spacers I believe but a trawl of the forum will enable you to go through posts.

Be aware the e34 tds manifold has a 4 bolt mounting for the turbo and the e36 has only 3 bolt fixing ,I never new this until I sold mine

No, we are evaluating options for production of RHD E36 turbo manifolds.

I have made up a quick diagram of what i was thinking in my head. Can any one confirm if this would work?

The manifold doesn't require any modification to fit to the engine. The problem is the routing of the exhaust down pipe past the steering colum. Basicaly, on a RHD E34 there simply isn't enugh space no matter what angle the turbo ends up at. However, my car is completely stripped out and I am looking into the possibility of modifying the bulkhead around the transmission tunnel area to allow a bit more space. There is a good chance none of this will happen though as after this years event the plan is to sell the car to allow me to concentrate on my other projects.

    Smiler.
