It certainly won't do any harm, but i think the point they were getting at is the value for money drops when you go for headwork compared to a NA car.
Oh i see what you mean, very true, however i picked the cams up second hand for 300 which i thought was a bargain, fitting wont be an issue as il be doing that myself.
The head was done over a year ago and has been sat in the cellar since, so may as well fit that at the same time as the decompression gasket, even if only for the reason that the head is all fresh. .

    Nice work!
Its great to see some UKers on the turbo trail
what are you tuning it with? SMT6?

have you got a wideaband and AFR gauge?
I would say AFRS should be High 11's (~11.8, +/-0.5) from about 3500rpm till redline.

Thanks! Yeah ive noticed there is literally only a handful of people with turbo rhd e36s around. . anyhow yes i am using a smt6 to tune fuel and ignition, bigger injectors from a 840 have also been installed.

I agree with the afrs you have stated, a few experienced friends also stated to aim for 12.0 so sounds close enough,

I dont have a wideband kit in the car, however a good friend has a wideband kit which i will be borrowing in the next week or so once the slight blowing from exhaust has been sorted. Wish me luck!

Thanks i will defo get in touch if there is any issues. Where abouts in the uk are you based? As i am going to need somebody to do all the fine tuning. Ive tuned the car na with a few mods and that was relatively straight forward but i have a very funny feelin that tuning it now will be a lot more difficult.

Ok great how do you tune ignition timing? As in what method do you use to detect knock? As the car doesnt have knock sensors as it is the non vanos engine. Also how much roughly would you charge to tune it? Im based in huddersfield.

    What turbo do you have?
hi mate, just a quick question for you, we have been out mapping the car this evening, however the air mass meter seems to be maxing out randomly around 4000rpm..there is a rapid loss of power and the afr goes to around 18-19, , however we havent changed the boost as it is still set at 7psi which it was set at when initially set up... any ideas as to what might be going on?

You can run 7-12psi on standard internals.. gaining you anything from 70-160bhp..

and in my opinion, Water/Methanol injection is well worth it no matter what power you run.. bringing down the charge temp dramatically and being amazingly healthy for your engine..

talk too Devils Own Alcohol Injection.. they can sort out kits for anything for around £300 fitted.. well thats what i got mine for from a local Devils Own Rep
