I've been slowly working on my 328i turbo for some time now.
Currently the cylinder head is off whilst i wait for a new MLS headgasket to arrive - in the next few weeks it should all be going back together & i'll try and take some pictures of the progress as it goes along.
Starting from the bottom...
Standard 328i bottom end - M52 block (was going to swap for M50 but lack of time & money ended that idea)
Single vanos kept.
MLS cometic headgasket 0.140"
ARP head studs.
Working on modifying a Toyosports e30 turbo exhaust manifold.
A/R .50 turbocharger - was running it at about half a Bar with standard headgasket, hoping for 1 - 1.5 Bar with the new setup.
All custom downpipe & de-cat exhaust 2.5" straight pipework.
I've kept the 'front' 2 O2 sensors, but not the 'after cat' 2 sensors - as there is no longer a cat.
M50 inlet manifold.
Currently using a moderate size universal intercooler - but looking to upgrade that soon (any suggestions?) maybe an Mitsubishi Evo one?
MAF sensor before throttle body, after intercooler & dump valve.
It was running fairly satisfactory on the standard ECU but this is where i need some advice...
Obviously a stand alone EMS running a few different maps would be nice (in an ideal world with a bottomless pit of cash!)
Is there anyone out there with experience of re-mapping the existing ECU?
I'm a bit out of my depth when it comes to the electronic tuning, I'm more of a nuts & bolts guy!
I really just want to make sure it's running safely, efficiently & maintain some reliability...
I'm sure i've heard somewhere that the standard MAF sensor is a bit of a restriction up to 350bhp, so is it possible to 'by-pass' this on the standard electronics?
Thanks in advance
