Hi eveyone,I am a newbie to this forum so forgive me if i go over previous posts or ask stupid questions but I was wondering if someone could help me..
I need to know the minimum amount of parts i would need to turbo-charge a 328 engine? I know ill need a turbo/manifold exhaust and inlet hoses/intercooler etc but what will the actual engine need? Any tips or advice from anyone who has done this would be greatly appreciated as i really am starting from scratch..I plan to to buy a lower milage engine, then tune it as a turbo lump, then just swap them over eventually..

    Cheers

    Ben.

If you're going to buy another engine then get the M50, its a much stronger engine to turbo.

Its not an easy conversion as im finding out. The manifold will be your biggest problem. Then you need to consider what ECU to use and whos going to map it. injectors, intercooler, rad, oil drain etc

hi mate id be interested in anything you find out on this as im thinking of doing the same, ive got a 1999 318 swapped the engine from a 1996 328i, e46 manifold mapped and chipped dynod at 221bhp, only thing that worries me is where im gona find the extra room to fit the intercooler etc, as its a tight squeeze as it is but hope yours goes ok mate

finding space for the intercooler isnt the issue, its building a manifold in a tight confined space. On top of that you have to worry about oil drain unless you run a very small turbo so you can mount it higher.
