that is correct. M42 is a 2cam. M40 is 8v. M44 is 1.9 and M42 is 1.8 very similar but heard that M44 head doesn't like revs . and if you go to this link http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=433471 you'll see what can be done with ours 4cyl engines
maybe its different when you turbo charge it.... but my M44 loves 4000 rpm to 6250 rpm !!
especially after a fesh oil change like now :P

I'd say read the whole post , U'll b amazed
U see how complicated piping is ? and u have to run a downpipe aswell and all the intercooler piping also is very complicated with sharp bends and many bits has to be removed . I was thinking tu put turbo as close to the engine and raise the bonnet where turbo sits . ofcourse these are just thoughts
