    Welcome to bimmerforums.

It would be cheaper and more reliable doing an engine swap for a more powerful unit. Big bucks to turbocharge........would be an interesting car though.

I know engine conversion would be cheaper but i like the sound of a turbo and being to turn it low and use 1.8 running costs and turn it up for fun waste petrol times
do you know how i can find out my engine model and what bhp it is ment to put out at the mo?

Think the cabs are all on the M43 block, 96 will definitely be an M43.

M43 are the basic 110(ish)bhp models. Can't remember if they're chain or belt driven but they didn't get any of the uprated M42 or 44 parts

    Oh...... welcome to the forum

I've looked up my engine code and think it's an m40? Does it have uprated parts? And if so what parts? I've been told and heard some 1.8's are bullitt proof, can anybody tell me if this is true?
