Hi everyone i have a 2004 BMW 330cd. Blew my turbo yesterday. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with turbo dynamics hybrid turbo? How much for fitting? Bhp with a fairly restrained map? Reliability issues? I have a uprated clutch and a new flywheel my car has done 65000 miles. Also do you know of any other companies that sell a hybrid turbo?

Or was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a standard turbo for cheap? Or a bigger one, or refurb my one on it at the moment.

    Anyone got any ideas?

I haven't a clue, but owning a 53 plate 330d which has done nearly 20k more miles than yours means i'ma keep a close eye on this thread.

*crosses fingers and leaves Turbo to cool down for ages* lol.

just got a email from turbo dynamics there turbo is good for 300-320bhp they recommend a clutch and say you dont need anything else it cost 1000 before tax. they wont fit it though and i have phoned bmw it will be 300-400 for labour + 300 for a map so will be 2000 nearly when fitted.
waiting for these to get back http://www.qkperformance.com
will probably be more expensive because its quaife.

anyone know how much a 335d engine is? might get one of those instead

Has it even been done, I doubt it simply due to price of the donor engine and the ancillaries ,
335d's aren't exactly 2 a penny so a working engine would surely carry a massive premium
not to mention the man hours required to fit it into the E46!

Best bet would surely be to get yours back on the road and buy a 335d or alternatively keep your and fit
the larger Allard intercooler with larger turbo, uprated clutch and remap to suit

What kinda figures will the hybrid turbo give you and have you opted for the Allard intercooler or another manufacturer?

it says between 300-320, not getting a intercooler yet going to get one in a few months when i have saved up a bit more (getting a flat) it will be winter soon so hopefully that will keep it a bit cooler, might get a allard or the one from ca-automotive looking at this one http://www.ca-automotive.co.uk/singl...faWQ9OA==.html which you do think will be better? going to get a panel filter aswell for the intake, are those allard ones only for range rovers or do they do BMW aswell?

300-320hp! That just a turbo upgrade? Surly the standard injectors/pump can't supply enough fuel for that sort of power?

What boost will that be running at?

Surely thats at max boost think the stock clutch will fry if you attempt to run that sort of bhp at the wheels, please keep us updated Alex

Standard injectors will prob be running at max duty cycle trying to keep up with the boost and cant see them lasting too long. I would look into uprated ones.
