Hi guys! I want your opinion on something. I was looking for an audio upgrade and came across Audiofile-Incar in Bishops Stordfort. They have offered a set of Focal speakers + JL Audio amp + Eathquake subwoofers at a price of 1500 gpb with installation etc. I have left my BMW with them for a day and a half. The guy who was in charge of the store seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. When I came back to pick up my car - the audio system sounded great, about x5, no x10 times bettet than my BMW hifi stereo. I wished the guy a merry Christmas and left.

On my way home, I have noticed that my angel eyes have stopped working. I was too far away from Bishops Stortfort to come back, so I have called their store instead. I have told the guy on the phone that my angel eyes have stopped working after the sound system upgrade. He seemed lost and just kept telling me to go through the idrive (which I have done many times!). Then he offered me to come in tomorrow (which I already had plans for - and I live far away!). Throughout the whole conversation, he have not apologised even once! The only thing he kept saying was that he did not know how it happened and the only thing they have done to the car was removing the battery and if I can't make it tomorrow, then I have to wait until the second of January.

Then I have sent an email to the owner of the store, who seemed rather lost himself and just said that they have put a great sound system together, however he never offered a decent solution.

So, today I drove to my local mechanic, who is a very professional and nice guy, who I have dealt with for a while. He told me that during the battery installation, the batter was short fed (I am not too good with technical terms) and the wiring in the angel eyes have started melting. He have offered to replace them by warranty, which we have done. The only thing I have paid for was labor and that was not a significant sum of money.

After this, I have emailed Gary at Audiofile-incar and told him what my mechanic told me. I never asked for any compensation or anything. I just wanted to hear "sorry" ffs (at the end of the day I have left a fully functional car with them and then when I picked it up - something is broken). In reply to my email I got: "Sorry, but that is nonsense, we have never even removed the battery (!!! exactly the opposite of what I was told over the phone !!!). I refuse to take any responsibility for that".

Guys, who is right in this situation? Maybe I am missing smt, but I think this is really poor customer service.

PS: Sorry for rushing and typo's. I am just a bit frustrated.

Firstly you could of fitted that audio gear urself for a lot cheaper and wouldn't have had the knackered angel eyes as you would of taken better care due to it being ur car. And second there just denying responsability of it as ur mechanic who you trust has contradicted them and let's be honest the shop you have never been too before will be nice as pie to get the sale , a lot of shops are like this funny enough .i would just accept they ballsed up and wouldnt go back to them nor recommend them to any friends etc

I highly doubt I would succeed doing it myself Taking apart doors, taking off seats, drilling out the space for bigger subs, etc... I am just slightly disappointed in their business ethics. I guess I should be happy that my angel eyes were replaced by warranty

I am glad that you were pleased with the “System 3” installed in your 3 series, it’s a very popular upgrade which have carried out dozens of times and customers are always blown away by the results.
Since you have taken the time to post these comments I think its important that we make sure an accurate account of the events are given.
When you called after leaving the Audiofile-Incar and reported you DRL`s where no operational the technician correctly suggested that you check your i-Drive settings as the positive terminal of the battery had been disconnected (the battery certainly was not removed or “back fed”as you suggested in your e-mail), Factory DRL`s can be activated or deactivated under “settings” then “lights”, the option can be ticked or un-ticked.
There was no reason for him to suggest any other course of action as we would not have even opened the bonnet in this routine installation.
We offered to check the problem for you either that day or the following day but where closed for xmas the day after.
It was not until a subsequent e-mail that you informed us that the DRL`s where non genuine BMW product installed by you mechanic.
I understand your frustration and I did in fact apologise for any inconvenience, even though the problem could not connected to our installation. I also appreciate that you are not technically qualified and are only reacting on the remarks of your mechanic who discovered the DRL wiring under the bonnet had “burnt out”.
I would be extremely concerned about the DRL integrity and wiring, do you know what make they are? Are they CE approved? I would recommend that you get the wiring checked by a specialist asap, I personally would not want to drive the vehicle until this had been done.
All of the staff here including myself are qualified and very experienced and take an enormous amount of pride in our workman ship and customer service, we have been doing this for 18 years, this is why we have the reputation we do and are as busy as we are looking after just about every main dealer in the area as well as private customers.
We would even be more than happy to check your DRL installation to make sure it is safe and correctly fused etc, I would think it well worth a trip to Bishops Stortford for this piece of mind,
If you prefer we could book it into Elms BMW main dealer and get the wiring checked there?
    Regards Gary

Sorry to hear of your problems OP, but it sounds like an unfortunate coincidence? :(

Very impressed with Gary's reply. Professional, non patronising and helpful. Should the next couple of months go to plan, I will hopefully be paying you a visit this summer Gary!

edit: Damn google, never realised this thread was in 2013! - apologies.

Was just looking up reviews of Audiofile as I day dream about my hopefully plans for the next couple of months.
