Hi. I am going to be completely honest and say I hardly ever open the bonnet of my wife's 2011 118D cabriolet, which we bought used about 9 months ago. So, excuse my ignorance. However, power steering light has just come on in time for Christmas. Happy Days.
So, I open the bonnet and cannot see any obvious power steering fluid filler. Bit more research and we may have a Servotronic car? Anyhow, still can't see a filler cap. Is it the small knurled plastic cap on top of the pipework at left front of engine bay as per attached photo's.
I know if it is a Servotronic car we could problems with the unit itself or slip angle sensors etc., but I want to eliminate the obvious simple low fluid level issue before I take it to my local independent.
Hope you guys can help. Much prefer working on my Healey 3000!

    Hi there.

If you put the last seven digits of your VIN into BMW Parts Catalog it will give you a full breakdown of everything in the car, most likely it's fully a electric steering rack.

The cap bottom left is a dust cover for the filling valve for the A/C.

Many thanks. Really useful website link, and as you suspected, from looking at the steering diagrams we have all electric steering. Happy Christmas.
