bmw E60 530d 2004 engine oil?

hi can you tell me what oil my car uses and would it be ok to use 10w40 engine oil?

You want oil that says it's to BMW LL04 specification on the carton. Don't muck around or bad things can happen.

Following on from above, no 10w40 will be to llo4 spec so dont use it.
