    Morning all.
In a pradicament at the moment, old car wise...

It's on my parents drive at the moment and they really need the space back. Due to timewasters on ebay it's not been sold STILL!

Soooo my dad has kindly offered 350 to scrap it and what ever value I get for it I can keep.

So begs the question, whats the best way to scrap a car to get the most value... Ideally I was after 500 for the car so would look to 150ish... is this possible? If not it isn't the end of the world as I have bits on the car I would take off... OBC, Stereo and rear lights... so could probably top up a bit with those...

Has anyone in south yorkshire got any recommendations?

    Thanks a bunch

What car is it? Best way is to break it up and sell the parts. Contact breakers yards and get a valuation, otherwise post a thread on a forum related to the car.

im not sure what the price is per tonne where you are but last week i weighed a car in and got 60 per tonne so i doubt you'll get 150 odd for it

depends what car it is too

hi, i'd say find a scrappy that pays you per tonne and then chuck a load of old steel rims in the boot

there is no way you will get 500 for it scrapping it, only way is to sell it, you could try breaking it but still no guarantee how many parts will sell and how much you will get.
try borrowing 350 to give your dad then keep it yourself.

as above, going rate is 60 per tonne. so 100 would be about right. but as another user has already said, you might get more if you break it. I.E. sell all the doors for 25 each, engine and gearbox for 100, wheels and tyres for 50 etc etc.

ive weighed in two motors now, both small hatches. the first was collected by the breakers, i had removed starter motor, front seats a few engins bits, headlights and mirrors. i got 20. the next one was complete and the scrap value was 30 for them to collect...in the end i managed to get 50 trading it in for my current car. scrap value is low. as mentioned above, strip the bits that you can sell and get what you can for the carcass, at the end of the day it much nicer to have the space and much less hastle to get someone to collect.

I'd of loved to of broken her. It was just the space issue that was the problem. My parents wanted the drive back

Got 125 for it, kind of feel robbed, as she was in good nick... but dads going to give me 350 now for the space on the drive so nearly the 500 mark I wanted..

Sad to see her go .... :(

Can really focus on the new one now

I know Even though it went for next to nothing, I hope the guy MOTs it and sells it on just to keep another classic BMW on the road
