    Hi All,

    Newbie question:
Does the 118D have the exact same engine as the 120D, only with different software which restricts the power?

Was hoping to get a remap for 120D power.

    many thanks

They both have the M47N2 engines, but there is a difference with compression and bore I think. Talk to one of the tuners on here...motechmike or e-maps.

    checked here www.upsolute.com

the N47 engine compression is 16:1

the M47 compression is 17:1. I'm sure the turbo might be smaller hence
different power capability? VAG did it with to distiguish the 130 and 150pd engines.......maybe intecooler is different.

The other big differences are chassis components

I have some 120d front and 130 rear brakes for sale if you want to upgrade them.

    2005 - 118d turbo part number 11 65 7 795 497

    2005 -120d turbo part number 11 65 7 795 499

    re-mapped 118d (122ps) will re-map to 155bhp and 330nm torque nearly same as std 120d.

    Thanks a lot guys.
any ideas what it'll take to get it to about 180bhp?
it'd be nice to get the car quicker than a standard 120D.

    cheers

a re-mapped 118d (122ps) will drive quicker than a std 120d (163)due to way fuel and boost are tweaked.

The figures don't mean a lot......too much torque and you'll spin wheels all time anyway
i reckon you'd be happy with results......

The mother in law has a 118D this produced 169 BHP and +8 MPG , However this was a Custom remap.

This was done by gcl tuning in bury st edmunds (suffolk)

not sure of the number but i will be on there site , they also have a three year warranty

    Hope this helps
    Paul
