Hi, Just wanted to say in advance thanks to all who put me right because I have never joined a forum before and will no doubt require it.
I have just got my first e38 and love it to death, I have a few jobs to get it how I want it but also need inspiration.
I am lucky to pick up such an old model with only 84k miles on it (S reg 1998) but still want to freshen the look of it up.
I aim to give the headlights a new look and replace front and rear orange indicators with clear, plus I want to get my wheels refurbished.
In addition I also hope to pick brains of some of you guys because I have problems with my cd changer (not recognised on display) and I
want to get the navigation system up and running.
Thanks for allowing me to join , and hopefully in my experience I am also able to return a lot of info I have gleaned from others who share my love
of the e38.

Just realised I haven't popped in here before posting. Bought a 320d se auto about 3 months ago. Been looked after by owner and only on 57k so hoping to nurse it to about 150 hopefully!
I thought I'd go ahead and get on a forum for my new to me BMW. I have just purchased a 1997 320i M-Sport with 66,000 km here in Japan. It's a 15 year old car, so I suspect there could be some issues with her eventually. The only one I noticed were the driver side headlight has a little condensation. This is the best forum I could find, so I was hoping I could get some advice on anything to be watch out for in the future. I'm looking forward to getting to drive something a little sportier than my wife's Chevy Cruze. All advice is welcome. Thanks!
Hi chaps, Just thought I would say hello as another 1st time BMW owner here. I have just bought an e36 328 coupe, absolutely love it. Its so well built. I do have a problem with it though, it keeps cutting out, is using quite a bit of fuel an feels very flat until 3k rpm.
Its going to a BMW specialist tomorrow to have the codes read, but after doing a bit of reading up on here I have a horrible feeling my vanos could be shot. I also have a rattling sound at around 2k rpm.

First post, but used forum many times for help and advice.
Owner of 2004 2L D SE Tourer with over 143K.
Just a list of some of the help and hints from this great forum, with have guided me through some DIY repairs.
DSC and ABS light on - Fault error code reading = 5E21, P1 or P2 Pressure Sensor, fixed changed ABS pressure sensor, cost £92.20 + some brake fiuid
Remote central locking failed - FZV module repair by CA Auto Electronics, cost £35.00 + postage, sent monday this week, returned by wednesday, fitted wednesday pm, still did not work, but quick call to Colin who advised recode key, and success.
Rear wiper failed - Seized wiper drive spindle, cleaned and greased with copper seal, cost nil.
Front control arm and bushes changed again with advice from this forum.
Decoked ERG valve etc.
Replaced Front Disc and pads + sensor, fitted Brembo, again recommendation, and work a treat. - Total cost £86.58
Just replaced my original BMW battery, again recommendation, used Bosch S5, from Eurocar parts @ £89.71
I am a newbie to the site just wanted to do this the right way.
I have read a few threads on here and they have been really helpful to me as I am a fairly novice diy-er but have managed to do the swirl flap blanking thing and cleaned egr also replaced front control arms and new discs and pads all round. At the moment am researching the possibilities of removing my dud turbo and replacing it so any tips would be appreciated
