hi everyone, I've been a regular viewer of this site for quite some time now and thought it was time to join since I've recently purchased my new car.
its a 2004 e46 320ci sport, absolutely love these cars and since getting rid of my old e46 318i saloon (was a hand me down of the old man) :hihi i decided to get something with a little more oooommff!!
Anyway, i happened to come across a mystik blue e46 sport with full dealer history and only 1 previous owner and thought it was too good to be true, (thought it was a steal)
So i went and viewed it the following day, couldn't stop smiling the whole journey home...BUT as i was approaching home i stopped at a set of lights and BAM!! on comes the engine management light. :mad
car starts rough idling and almost cuts out on me, lights change and i quickly realised the car had gone into limp mode. :shifty:
power steering went really heavy and i was really embarrassed at the fact my car was kangerooing down the road, even more so that my mate had just overtaken me in his ford fiesta. :rofl
Finally got the car home and had a quick look around, had a mate come and plug it in and he told me there was misfires on cylinders 3,4 and 6.
so i rang the guy who sold me the car and he said it could be spark plugs as it had been sat for a while, had some plugs in the shed so changed them and cleared the light, back out for a drive and no problems until i came to another set of lights.. BAM!! engine management light comes back on :mad, plugged it back in only this time it said there were misfires on cylinders 4,5 and 1 :confused
ended up changing all coil packs a couple of days later, but still no joy.. ended up ringing the guy back again and explained what had gone on.
he asked if i could get the car back to him.. i laughed and said NO its in limp mode, he said he didnt know what else to do other than i take it to a garage and see if they could diagnose the problem and send him the bill, didnt really argue with him after this as i thought he could of just ignored my phone calls and of been left in the s**t.
so off to the garage i go and it threw up the same misfire codes luckily the lad who was working on my car knew his bmw's and said the MAF wasnt a genuine one, looked a cheap ebay one he said, asked him to get me a genuine one as i wasnt paying for it anyway
came the following day and on went the new sensor.
sent the bill to the guy i bought it from and ive had trouble free driving ever since!:hihi HAPPY DAYS!!
Sorry for the essay but i just thought id give you an insight to the nightmare week i had, anyway ill be looking for help off you guys for any problems i may occur in the future
cheers.
