Well, seeing as a lot of new members are signing up at the moment....(but not posting!) I have been asked to create an introductions forum where new members can create a new thread to say hi and talk about their cars and projects

See you there hopefully

Hi and thanks

Hi, I`m a new member, but I`m not new to the forum. This very forum has been a useful source of information since I owned an E36 318is Alpine with M44 auto in 2013.

The biggest mod I did to the car was a complete B8+H&R sports combo upgrade. The car now lower, slightly nose-down and sits nicely. All later mods were about maintenance wise. e.g. RTAB bushings, front lower control arms with urethane castor bushing, a new fuel pump due to the broken fuel gauge signal sender, replaced rubber seals around the exterior door handles and replacement work to old cracked front windshield cowlings. The most recent work was the RH seatbelt pretensioner with a part from E46 318. And thanks to the local mechanic who kindly diagnosed and erased my SRS error code. Future mod will be about body kits.

Hello everyone. Have just joined and looking forward to a good browse of the site.

I have recently bought a 2012 330D Sport Touring (having let go of my E39 Touring) and am loving it. Previous owner must have spent a lot of money on the extra's - its 8-speed auto (paddles are useful) which is excellent, double sunroof, upgraded speakers, adaptive suspension, professional satnav etc.

Diesels and the 3-series are new to me so I don't think I will be offering much advice at the moment but I do have more than 8 years of driving an E39 so hopefully I may be of some help in that section.

Not sure if this is the right section to post my initial opinions of the car but I already have a couple of areas of disappointment and they are:

If my old E39 had let as much road noise through the doors I would have replaced the door seals !

Sat Nav ("professional") is very disappointing - several locations in the UK do not allow me to enter the full 7 postcode-digits so the system asks me to choose the nearest which is a fat lot of help if you don't where you are or don't work for Royal Mail ! It's a worse system than my 10-year old Tom Tom.

Not being able to direct the air circulation to the windscreen (only) without having to activate the full-blast de-misting system is irritating.

Anyway. that's me.

320ci in Sri Lanka :)

New member of a recently acquired UK import '03 e46 320ci with 53k on the clock.
Just bought 2 months ago and getting re-accustomed to BMW ownership (my 'first' was a US E30 318is during uni days in the mid 90's, which i crashed on a wet day!).
The e46 coupe was a car i've wanted ever since it first came out, although never thought possible as there is a 300% tax on car imports in this country! Let's just say that despite being 12 years old, it still cost about 5 times the current UK market value...there is no such thing as depreciation for cars here (since ownership cost is so high...)

Anyways, good to be back in a BMW- good and expensive! :D Car was with 1 owner for 10 years in UK, and was imported to Sri Lanka 2 years ago. It's in very good condition considering it's age, only needed new brakes, front lower arms and front tires when bought. That said, parts are very expensive with the only BMW service center in Sri Lanka, so I will slowly seek out a good specialist to handle the next round of repairs!

Looking forward to many years of ownership! Will certainly be posting a few queries as I already have to work through a few oddities in the car...Thanks for keeping this forum going!

Hello

Hi everybody,

I'm an ex E39 and F10 owner, now looking into getting an E46 325/330ci for weekend and trip use. Hoping to avoid making a poor purchase by reading up on your forum and then asking slightly naive questions.

The E39 (525SE 2002) was the best car I have even had. Hoping the E46, which is sort of the same era, is its equal.

Hi not sure where I should post this but my question is,
I've currently got a e91 325i m sport in black with leather and it's an auto. It's done 74k and I'm thinking of changing it. It a 2006 and I'm the second owner. I've extended the warranty and still pay £33 a month which can be transferred to the new owner. My question is, how much should I expect to get for it? It's in very good nick

Hello, used the Forum a few times and it's been invaluable as well as interesting so big thanks to everyone who contributes.
Picked up a 325d touring a couple of weeks ago, really happy with the car. Owned a 325i touring a long time ago and loved it to bits. Since then have owned an Audi, Merc, Vw and lastly a Honda and all estates. Really glad to be back in a beamer just wish I'd done it a lot sooner!
Anyway look forward to contributing to the forum.
Thanks.

Hello all - I'm Mark

Little confession - myfirstbbw is essentially a bloody typo but I'm gonna roll with it and tell you all a story about 'my first bbw'

My first car was a black 2006 1.25 fiesta. She was awesome - she was small - I thought she was sexy as hell and all she did was everything I wanted her to do but she was struggling to keep up with me.

I started looking around and there in lies the typo - I'd found myself a big beautiful woman - a silver 2001 330d touring.

Ok she's older - 160,000 miles on the clock but she's been taken care of - full service history, no swirl flaps to worry about, one owner from new, an interior that looks like it's never been used and only one spot of rust on the boot lid - and all at a good price.

I can honestly say - she's awesome.

There are a couple of things though - this only being my second car it feels like there's some flat spots in the power but I do appreciate I've never driven anything like this so if there's anyone in the Derby area that owns one and/or know a thing about this car - feel free to come and take it for a spin and tell me your thoughts. The rear water squirting thing doesn't and there's a light on telling me my left headlight isn't working but it is - I've change the lights no difference.

I guess the only things that are on my mind are how do I continue to care for this car in the same way it has been??? Follow the service requested by the car or increase them regardless

And is it worth remapping?

Well that's my story

Mark

Hi everyone

Hi just joined for information and possibly help anyone with little knowledge I have :D

I own BMW E90 318d N47 engine in sapphire black. I've always been a BMtrouble you fan especially the gorgeous E30. I try do a lot of work myself.

Previously done full servicing, all filters such as pollen, fuel, oil and air.
I have had all brakes and disc changed myself
Fixed a screen washer issue due to it being clogged up
had small accident and have had to replace the BST as well the air bag myself

Below fixes have been done by either sytner or indy garage due to lack of tools:

Have had issue with no electrics to cockpit, once this happened whilst driving due to positive wire connection on fuse board being faulty
Had glow plugs (got stuck in) and control module for glow plugs as well as back pressure sensor changed
Had new timing chain in the chain due to it being the dreaded N47 engine.

Also I'm unfortunately suffering from a DPF issue- tried a forced regen with some software still no joy.

Like I said hope to be of some use to other BMtrouble you drivers as well as get info and help on my car.

Hello

Hi All, wanted to quickly introduce myself, I've been dipping into these forums for years but a new (to me) car has given me renewed interest and the push to get involved. I must thank everyone and anyone who has shared their knowledge on here, It's an absolute gold mine!

I now have a 2011 320D in msport trim so I'll be looking for any and all advice on it. I'm mainly interested in improving the fairly weak base audio and keeping it looking nice in the short term, then perhaps a few tasteful performance mods if/when I decide to renew or continue the extended warranty.

So far I am loving the car, It's my second BMW and first diesel. My first was a 2004 E46 325ti compact, I loved that car, the engine and handling.. it was a lot of fun but the E90 feels a world apart in refinement and ride quality. the pull of the diesel turbo is pretty satisfying too:D.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and returning to BM ownership for the first time in nearly 10 years.

My new car is a LCI F31 335d X-Drive M Sport Touring in mineral grey. It was ordered in May 2015 and took BMW until 8 October 2015 to deliver it. I was without a car from August but Dick Lovett at Bristol kindly lent me a 5 series GT. The F31 is on a lease so has no extras, none, completely standard. It's quite an interesting study in what BMW thinks we want or maybe it just shows what we really should spend to finish the car off! Shall have to elaborate on a different thread.

Regards

Nick

BMW world

Hello to all from Northants.Having benefited loads from a couple of moto guzzi forums in previous years I thought it would be wise, say hello, register on behalf of my son who has not found the benefits of forum exsistence.

I have spent the last few weeks browsing ,auto trader gum tree and ebay for a suitable BM that suited my sons shallow pockets.Respect to the lad he has worked hard and not had to rely on Dads even more shallow pockets, two classic bikes and two more has fook all to do with it..

So WTF has been happening to a fifty something young man whilst admiring the coupe e46s,How come I feel the need to own one myself ?.Roll on the summer, get back on the bikes and forget this four wheel indulgence.

Today we found a lovely looking 325se,deposit down,110,000 miles, good history, arches sound, very few marks, good tyres, warranty 3 mnths, service due in 5,000,12mnth mot,2,440.£.MPG will take some geting used to, but we have discussed this at length .

The service and sale matched the excellent condition of the car, once the sale has completed I hope to ad some more about the vendor, certainly appeared a real bm enthusiast,in fact a enthusiast on all cars generally. So impressed I intend returning for my next car.

Guzzi bob.

2003/2004 registered,an oldie.

Hello all, first BeeMer for me :D

I have recently bought an unloved beemer. "BMW 320 (E46) TD SE COMPACT" (with issues). 02 plate, cost me 500 quid. had it on diagnostics at "BMWMAN - Heanor Gate Ind. Est." and hoping this forum can make sense (and savings) on what was revealed (posts to follow). It's a lovely car (bought for my fiancee as the number plate had her "NEW" initials ;)). Anyway, soppiness aside, It's been ragged! so first call was new brake disks & pads all round and handbrake shoes. Then service, so oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, pollen filter (I'm asthmatic so best be safe than sorry lol, came as a kit anyway). I am (I am told) an excellent mechanic but I have never owned or worked on a diesel engine so please be patient. Anyway, a lovely car and an amazing drive (albeit it's issues which were known and gambled on when purchased). I've been reading this site since I bought it and thought it only right to say HELLO! :D

im in desperate need off help with my bmw and dont no where to go or who to ask so il post and hope someone can help

i have a 52 plate bmw 330i and when I plug the maf in my car goes into limp mode also I think I have a breather problem as my car shows all the symptoms of the pcv gone (a lot of cream in the engine, car has loss of power and it feels like its pulling back under 3000 revs) I changed the pcv but theres the thin vacume pipe and its been cut and theres also another cut pipe on the back of the intake manifold.iv seen some 330s that have an f shape connecter on the air pipe from the maf to the engine but I just have 1 air pipe going to it not 2.iv also found near the injectors 3 connecters but 2 of them have been cut off and im not sure but I think there for the lambda sensors.ino there is a lot of issues but to someone with proper knowledge it could just be a matter of joining some pipes or buying accouple of parts.if its any extra help the bmw had a trip tronic gear box and it was converted to a manual.just so you no its not my handy work im tryin to fix all the last owners bodge jobs lol

id really appreciate some help but im new to forums so not even sure if this is a help people out kinda forum lol

535d m sport 2008 - gearbox issues

I have recent bought a 2008 535d m sport and very happy with it but I was driving the other day and noticed when I went to press the accelerator that the car was very loathed to accelerate even when the pedal pushed down hard. However this could be overridden by using the steering mounter paddle shift in manual mode, giving full power, snappy shift etc. Drove it today and the problem seems to have gone. Anyone experienced this and definitely knows what the issues is and how it should be fixed?

Michael
