Have read the threads many time on Bimmerfest, but now decided to register to share my opinions and advice with you all, have been a proud owner of several BMW’s the latest being an 2006 E90 330i se auto (everyday car) with conversion to run LPG.
Love the car to bits, have noticed on the forum and part used BMW car sites in the U.K. that this must be a rare model when you look at all the Diesels in the market.
It was my choice to go the petrol route as I love the engine and going LPG made me wish that I did not convert my previous BMW E34 525 auto (I still own 150,000 miles) as it would have saved me several thousands pounds plus on petrol.
For the weekend dry days only, I drive a TVR Chimaera 4 litrs since 1996, fun to drive and I don’t compare between the cars I drive.
    I’m a petrol head and don’t I know it.
    Best regards to all. Stuart.

Hi folks, excellent forum, I purchased a 54 plate 320d ES touring about a month ago, done 78k with history up to 50k...then I found this forum and read about the swirl flaps..bit of a panic !! I served my time some 30 yrs ago in engineering so wasn't worried about tackling the job..anyway up to now I have removed the swirl flaps, decoked the egr valve and inlet manifold (wasn't too bad really),engine oil and filter change, air filter change, crankcase breather replaced for the vortex type, new front calipers, discs and pads, new rear discs and pads, brake fluid and clutch fluid change...I just need to change the gearbox and diff oils and replace the front wishbone rear rubbers ( think you refer to them as lollypops)..just a couple of questions, what are the oil quantities for the box and diff (I take it it's not a lsd ? ) and would you go for the standard replacement wishbone bushes or the powerflex type ? never had a bmw before, by the way whats the difference between the ES and the SE ? sorry for all the questions but you seem a really helpful bunch..thank you.

Welcome to the forum Alan. If you post a question in the E46 section you should get your answers there mate...
Glad you have got rid of the swirl flaps, they are a nightmare...

Names Paddy, I used to drive an old 316i e30 tourer, so just a wee baby engine but it was my absolute pride and joy till an old guy caved in my passenger side door piller, I was happily turning right on a roundabout when he came straight on and into me, then the old git told his insurance I took him on a single carriageway and cut him up Doh!
anyway my brother was looking for a motor and asked me to help him choose one, so He ended up with an e36 316 tourer, unfortunately the auto box is in safe mode so, I thought I'd join up to see if anyone can help me out.

    So Cheers in advance guys
