New to the forum

Hi everyone,

Just joined.

Upgraded my 530d M Sport Touring for a new 640d M Sport Coupe. Both Carbon Black..... I'm a creature of habit I guess.

Love BMW, my earlier cars were 330d M Sport Tourer (silver) and I had an Audi S4, all long gone.

Any other 6 series chaps out there?

Hi , i'm a noob.

Hi all ,
This is a first for me . Never posted before and until today never owned a BMW before.

Suggestions on what to do for preventative maintenance would be good - i'll have a look at other topics/threads first.

Also a backfit Nav system ( and floor mats) would be nice.

Hi all, hows it going? My names Anthony and ive just recently got rid of my mk4 vw golf and aquiered a 1993 E36 318is coupe in navy blue, its seen better days but im sure with a little love im sure i can make her look beautiful and pull like a train. Ive always wanted a project car and now ive got one i have big plans for her. No big bumpers and redickuless f1 spoilers i just wanna make look competely standard on the out side but under the bonnet and the running gear im thinking race car!! Turbo conversion, intercooler, high lift cams, bigger valves, twin K&N's, chip, lsd, tuned, coily's etc. If any ones done any big make over jobs i'd love to hear about them and any advice you have to give would be much appriciated like what works best ie exhaust systems, turbo conversions?

Stay well all, and safe driving

Alpina D3 (320d) ticking noise

Hi

This is probably not the correct place to post but I'm new, please forgive
Me!
I have an Alpina D3 and have a ticking noise from the rear of the gearbox and have been told it could be a collapsed bearing. Has anyone else had this issue?
You can only hear the noise with windows open and lower down the rev range. The ticking noise doesn't change in speed.

Any ideas?

Hi Iam Steve From Galway Ireland . I am in trouble with my E39.

Hot engine, no heat at idle, temp guage normal, very hot top pipe on rad, pressure steam from rad cap when in traffic, bottom rad pipe always cold.
I have read how to bleed system and tryed many times. There is no BMW specialist near me and the main dealer is in Dublin 150 miles away.
I am new to this forum and not sure what to do, I thank you all in advance and would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction
Thanks Steve

Hello,

Long time lurker and first time poster.

Great site lads and its been a great source of information so far. Hoping to learn lots about maintaining my car and hopefully pass on any bits I figure out myself. Totally fed up with main dealers at this stage and trying to get more hands on.

I have a 2004 Reg E60 530d. 125000 miles And so far, I've had to deal with the leaking autobox issue,

The boot area holding water and frying the electrics

Recently replaced the main water thermostat & egr stat.

I am about to tackle the swirl flap de flap issue next

Thats all I can think of for now.

Hi nice to join you

Hey everybods. Im Gez, just bought an 04 e61 530 and im having a few issues. Can anyone help with the following......

1. It has xenon headlight that auto level and go round corners sometimes. They keep packing up, it appears that the n/s is pointing low. Also when this happens the green light next to the headlamp switch flashes.

2. If im driving in the day with the automatic headlights on, I sometimes get the battery warning light come on for a few seconds and the headlights come on regardless of how bright it is. The battery warning light then goes off but the headlamps stay on.

3. The drivers window has stopped going all the way up on the 2nd click of the switch and I am getting a window warning light on the dash.

4. The heated rear window isnt working. I have checked the fuse and it is fine. Im not getting any warnings, it simply doesnt work.
Appologies if you have answered these questions before but I cant find any refernce on the forums.

Thanks for your help peeps

Gez

From Zero to 2 BMWs in 3 months...

Hello to all

Our family has a long history of Euro car ownership, (Fiat Alfa Lancia Peugeot Audi Porsche) but until a couple of months ago hadn't engaged with BMW. That changed when we bought an E60 530D Motorsport, which my wife loves to bits. But tomorrow, my son and I will fly from Brisbane to Sydney to pick up a 2003 E46 325Ci Motorsport "Project Car" and drive 1,000km back home. A bit of an adventure for Dad and son, so we're looking forward to tomorrow. Also looking forward to learning more about the E46 from this forum.

Regards
Rob

Hello all!

Hi all,
New member and have been making the most of all your wisdom. Just bought my second BMW. Had a 2002 318i se auto saloon. Have just bought a 2010 320d Msport Coupe auto and I'm in love all over again!
Thanks to you guys, I definately made the right choice in car. Getting rid of the run-flats in a couple of days and looking forward to the difference. Either getting the Falken 452s or the Michelin Pilot Sport 3s depending which ones I can get my hands on. Seem to be having trouble finding somewhere that has the Falkens for the front pair - 225 40 18. It appears that allnewtyres.co.uk seems to have both sets. (Anybody used them before? Any good?) I'll give them a call tomoz to double check.

One slight issue I am having though is getting into the settings and information via the 'Operating principle' thingy. I'm following the manual; turn on ignition (not starting the engine), and tapping the indicator. I've tried both up and down with no sucess. Any help/adivice would be great. (I've got deep feeling that I'm missing something really simple!)

Cheers from the new boy,

Phil.

Hi from south Wales

I posted a message earlier but neglected to say hello.

I live in Llanilltud Fawr (Llantwit Major) between Barry and Bridgend, south Wales and have a 320Ci auto.

It's 11 years old now and I still love that car!

A couple of little niggles as you will see from my earlier message but to be honest I'm enjoying 'tinkering' with it.

I suspect I'd be a little disappointed if I had nothing to work on (sad or what?)

When it gets too expensive to repair I suppose I'll have to get rid of it but until then.......still loving it!

Hi, everyone.

Just bought another 3 Series, having defected for a while, and joined the forum, so I thought I'd say "hi". It's a 325d with "a few inexpensive extras" as I explained it to herself, including 18" alloys. I found the forum while looking for lowdown on 225/45R17 for winter, because I've found some nice 17" wheels but they're staggered 8J/8.5J (like my 18") so I was wondering what those tyres look like on 8.5Js at the back.

No doubt I'll now spend several hours browsing interesting posts when I should be doing something more obviously productive :)

Pete

Not sure :s

Hey people I'm all new and looking for some advice I haven't owned a e36 yet and I'm currently on the hunt for one at the moment. I really would like a 328i manual convertible if I'm to be honest but at the same time would happily settle for a coupe or to have either one with nothing lower than a 323i I've recently come across a 323i with 160k on the clock on a p reg with full service history I'm told still need to view it tho to see the real deal. and I've also found a 328i convertible with 123k on a m reg. the 323i is so much better looking than the 328i but the mileage is so high it's a worry. And the 328i has the engine I want and I've been told has 95% but dose not look as nice and is a year older. Just wondred people's views and wanted some help. Is 160k to much let me know people all replys will be much appreciated. And I look forward to getting my e36 and hanging around on the forum. I've left the links below so you can have a look yourselfs. BMW : BMW 323I Convertible BMW : BMW 328i Cabrio 1996
