Well, seeing as a lot of new members are signing up at the moment....(but not posting!) I have been asked to create an introductions forum where new members can create a new thread to say hi and talk about their cars and projects

See you there hopefully

Coming back to BMW....

After 4 years of Merc ownership (before that I had an E39 525dSE Estate) I'm looking at buying a 2006 520d SE saloon at a specialist dealer. Done 66k with a full SH so no qualms there. It does however have a set of winter Dunlop's on it and the dealer won't change them. (17" rims)

Anyone had any experience of these tyres? I can put up with them for the next few months, but if I decide to run them through spring/summer (a) how long will they last and (b) any other down-sides?

Anything else in particular I should be looking for?

Thanks.

Thinking of buying an 840Ci to replace/retire my 10 year old Scooby, and with a different outlook on driving.

Gone but not forgotten are my hooligan days (btw I'm 63 years young going on 25 and joined this forum to get an insight into BMW 840's)

Could do with a little help as Mrs RVM is 5' 2" and me 6' 3" - is there enough adjustment so that we can both get a comfortable drive position?:thumbsup

I have finally got a BMW!!!! E46 320d 2.0 Sport

Hi to all. I am new to this site but hopefully will be here for a while :)
Will try and get picks up soon of the new addition, and will be needing some info on the swirl flap issue.
Ive managed to get a 2003 car with 78k on the clock, and was wondering if anyone had seen any adverse effects of removing the swirl flaps and fitting blanking plates.

Also where would people recomend for a after market exhaust for E46 320d, just mainly (sad I know) but i dont like the look of the downward facing exhaust with the sport kit and styling.

Many thanks to all that reply :D

First post

Hi,

Joined a while a go as found to be very interesting reading a number of the posts on this site and at last its my turn. Bought myself a low mileage (now 86000) 2001, 530i Sport auto last year with full s/h and only 2 previous owners in metallic Oxford green with bespoke interior. Simply put "I LOVE IT"!!!

However this is my 4th beemer and i'm no beginner. Have lots of DIY over the years but only low key stuff i.e the head gasket blew on my (now sold) 97' 528i and was taken to my local indie to do. Have recently replaced both of the cam shaft position sensors after experiencing stalling problems at round-a-bouts etc and asking my indie to down load engine fault codes. WOW.... what a difference. Seems that one or both of the sensors must have been playing up originaly as now the engine response to accelerator movement has greatly increased, gear change of auto box vastly smoother AND quicker to drop down a gear in response to pedal movement and accelaration improved. Which has led me to ask - can I improve it even further with an ECU remap? After considerably more reading the answer is yes but not as much as a diesel - not that bothered as I like my revs - sorry to those of us with diesels :)

Can anybody here recommend a good place in or local to north london that can help with a good quality remap?

Many thanks for any help and hope that I can contribute in small way to this excellent site in the future.

Hi,

I've just recently joined the forum, after buying a 2000, 320d touring. Really like the car, but unfortunately sold a bit of a pup by the dealer, despite having a new MOT I have had the spend another £700 on new brake pads and disks, anti rollbar links and bushes, handbrake shoes/kit, brake flush - some of these they were surprised at as they are MOT failures. The dealer did change the rear diff and propshaft as they were a problem - but too over 4 weeks to do the car and return the car, although during the service they commented on the very dirty oil in the diff.... and the dealer who sold the car doesn't seem interested.

Hopefully this is the worst over, though there are other things I need to get sorted - MPG is low and car running quite cool, windows randomly opening and closing, heater blows hot all the time... one day I'm sure it will all be sorted with the help of bimmerforums :)

Hello All,
I'm new to this forum and thought i'd say hello; so Hello.... I recently sold my 2000 "W" 528i SE Auto in Orient blue, which I owned for 7 years and 50,000 miles.,I have to say it was a first class car, but it needed to go as I need the flexibility of an estate. So I'm now looking for a low mileage 2007/2008 BMW 325i or 330i Auto M Sport Touring with leather, wish me luck!!;)

I will have to be very careful with the interior as I have a three children and yellow ladrador; although I have ordered a boot liner and a cage for the dog!! I have also had it remapped by Superchips (Bluefin) and the difference is superb better performance allround. Overall I'm very, very pleased with the car.

Looking Good Mr. C, Like the Schnitzer Badges and Carbon too. Always been a fan of the 330Ci Sport and you cant go wrong with black (Goes with everything!!!).

Where you sourcing the carbon Badges from/ perhaps there's a group buy possible as I'd be Interested.

The carbon badges ive ordered arent schnitzer ones they are the black & white BMW ones. They are from a guy in Rugby. He has a shop on ebay & is currently selling some really cool styling mods, will link it abit later on this evening.

Have also ordered a carbon(effect i think) set of '330Ci' badges for the rear which are from the U.S that look pretty cool. Will probably put the model back on the back with the new bonnet & boot badges when they arrive.

Only had the car for about a month and so far am loving it. The guy before me had quite a lot of carbon(unsure if its wrapped or effect) put inside the car, a few stylish mods aswell.
