    Hi guys,

My names Oliver from Cumbria. I'm currently selling my forged Impreza WRX STi in favour of a F10 BMW 530d M Sport in Carbon Black (in the dealership ready and waiting for when the Impreza is sold!). I've not owned a BMW before so as this will be my first one I thought I'd join up for any tips, adivce etc.

I've been a member of various forums relavent to the cars I've had in the past (Fiesta Zetec with Zetec S engine conversion, Evo 6 TME, VW Golf VR6 and the Impreza) and always found the sites helpful.

I look forward to having a good old read and increasing my BMW knowledge and hopefully not get drawn into spending more money on increasing performance/handling etc!

Picked up the 530d M Sport (258bhp) on Thursday and I'm absolutely in love with it!! I've never really been a fan of BMW's as luxury type cars as I always felt the dash and lack of toys (unless paying a ton on the options list!) let them down.
But it seems they've pulled their socks up and I couldn't bve happier with my purchase!

Power wise it really took me by surprise! Although I'd read the figures and knew it was 258bhp and managed 0-62 in 5.8 I was still dubious about the fact such a big car to manage those figures, let alone a diesel!!!
But as soon as you give it a bit you soon lose your Jap turbo blinkers and I'm blown away by it! It's not as stable at the higher speeds as the scooby and you can feel it getting light round the 130+ mark. But in it's defence I'm not going to be driving everywhere at those speeds and I'm a hell of a lot more comfortable in general than I was in the scooby!

You're not wrong!! It's been a long time coming having some luxury! Before the scooby I had a Golf VR6 that was lowered and had Konig K5000 seats etc and all retrimmed in toffee leather incl. the dash but wasn't luxury in anywaqy really.
Before that I had an Evo 6 T.M.E and that was similar to the Impreza interior. So it really is a whole new world being sat in the 530! So many toys as well, I don't what to play with first! DVD player, hop online, send maps and messages to myself, flash the lights/unlock/vent etc with my phone... I'm like a kid in a candy store at the mo haha

I need to sort the paint out as I forgot how difficult dark colours are to care for and she looks like she's spent the last 2yrs of her life being washed with Brilo pads! Once I get her looking her best I'll get some pictures up
