    Hello,

I'm a 63 year old lecturer and stay in Stenhousemuir.
I've had three bimmers, a 316SE, a 320SE and now a 2004 320d sport in black with 62K on the clock. I've had it for a year and was bought from a dealer. After getting over the change from petrol to diesel I now love the car.
The warranty ran out in September and I thought long and hard about renewing it. After hearing about the problems with swirl flaps, turbos etc. I decided that it might be a good idea to keep the warranty going month by month. Its not cheap - £55/ month but it gives me some peace of mind that if something does go wrong hopefully it'll be covered. However, I'm still considering having the flaps removed, renewing the turbo oil feed pipe and changing the crankcase breather. What do you think - is it a good idea?
It feels good to be part of a community where help and advice is only a thread away.
Here's to a long and happy association.

hello and welcome ning...firstly nice too have another scot here..one more for future meets..dont have a diesel meself tho like you say ther seems oo be a lot off threads concerning swirl flaps..personally i would have them removed..as that would also remove any worries off them causing catastrophic damage too your engine should they ingest...secondly,if you can pay the warranty and you are happy ith what is covered then continue too do so..does seem expensive but sods law..as son as you stop payin it...your car wiill end up in the garage!
