Hi folks I am now the proud owner of a 2005 (54 plate) 525d....
I have been looking around for a few months for one and I had looked at some right sheds.. But I kept looking and by chance I just looked on the Internet and found my new car..
Now I may be fussy but I had a list that the car had to have and I could not belive as I was reading the listing I realised that this car has it all... So I called him straight away and mad the trip to Huddersfield to look.. As I pulled into the road I always can tell what a car will be like by the area and it was a lovely estate. I pulled up and there was the car... Wow what a thing of beauty! Turns out the owner is a doctor and was his wife's car after test driving ans a good look round I decided this was the one for me..so I got the money out and did the deal and took it home.

I must say it was an pleasure to drive it home a lot better than my E46 320d

Will be putting up posts as I do things to it

I went from an E46 320d to an E61 525d, it is a night and day difference. Be sure sure to give a proper seduce though, you can bet it was looked after by BMW, which means the fuel and air filler will be long over due for change, you should also get the EGR valve cleaned and consider either cleaning or blanking the swirl flaps

Sorry to disappoint you but a full BMW service history is a bad thing, they designed their service schedule for the fleet market and leave far far too long between oil services. Trust me the EGR valve and the swirl flaps will be completely glued up with soot/oil deposits.

As I said make sure it has had a full all filters service. Also of it is an auto, it needs an oil change soon even if BMW say otherwise.

Yes the DPF's fail but mainly on cars that do shorter journeys
