    Hi everyone !
I havent actually got a Beemer YET !!! I was hoping i could get some advice from you kind folks !
I have been looking around at the 3series compact (hatchback model ) you will have to excuse me if i get stuff wrong , im not sure on the models and there names.
I am currently driving a 1991 mazda 323f BG GT 18i DOHC,the pop-up lights model, i have owned this car for 6years and love it ,and i have been a member of "Club 323F.com" for the last 5years,which is a great club, but its time to move on and get something newer.
I have approximately £1,200 to spend so the car will be 10-12years old.
Which is the better model apart from the obvious sport model? ( it has to be the hatch model )
what should i look out for when viewing and test driving them ???

I would definately want one that has colour coded bumpers etc.

Any advice would be great, Thanks

    Hello and Welcome to Bimmerforums.co.uk

the engine choice will depend on your mileage and what you're prepared to pay in insurance?
with that budget you'll be looking for an E36 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_Compact purely aesthetics but imo the sport always looks the better car

they did a 1.6 and a 1.9 316i compact, and a 1.8 and a 1.9 318ti compact. the 1.9 is 8 valve in the 316 and 16 valve in the 318. I'd go with the 1.8 or 1.9 318ti I had one and loved it. They will all do approx the same mpg

    1.6 316 102 bhp
    1.9 316 104 bhp
    318ti 1.8 140 bhp
    318ti 1.9 140 bhp
