Hi, New to this site, have recently bought a e60 530i this is my 3rd bmw also had a e28 and a e39 528i . Car is a 2004 with only 50,000 miles full dealer history, the only thing i dont like is the standard 16" wheels and i am thinking of buying some 18" mv2s with run flat tyres, would this affect the car in anyway because the 16" wheels are normal tyres have also read some bad things about run flats which is making me think twice. Thanks in advance and also great web site.

    Welcome to the forum!!!

I don’t have much experience with run flats - All I can tell you is that they will make the ride a lot harder due to them being reinforced.

See Link below to which alloys are best suited to your car!

18" wheels with new run flats are fine - but once they start getting low - the ride becomes harsh. think about 18's with normal tyres.

If the car is on standard tyres at the moment - does this mean you have a skinny spare already?

Hi, Yes car has normal 225/55/16s with space saver spare wheel, just think it would look lot better with 18s and may be improve handling, being a 530i i thought it would have bigger wheels and tyres standard but obviously a extra. regards

Don't ditch your 16" wheels, you can use them as winter tyres.

yes good point - keep them and stick some winter tyres on them for winters as we have just experienced. If you do sell - send me a PM :-)

I didn't think the 530 came with 16's as standard - thought they were 17's but don't take that as gospel
