    Hi Everyone.

Though I would sign up as I have just acquired my first ever BMW.

Rod, (my son is car mad and his name is taken from Rod Redline from the Cars 2 movie) so my new 2000 318i is called Rod.

I always prefer driving older cars and my last two one a Honda Accord I ran to 270,000 miles and my other current car a Volvo V40 diesel is currently sitting on 206,000 miles.

This car is a little project for me to completely restore it to factory finish with out modding it too much. So far I have fitted aero wipers, Cool Blue head light bulbs and clear indicator lenses. I may fit an angel eyes conversion and replace the rear lights, but not decided yet.

So far I am really enjoying driving it, compared to my other estate car it does go where I ask and even at 11 years old is in excellent condition. I hope to get the time soon to give it a complete wet flatting and machine polishing, plus a good coat of sealant.

    My question are,

How do you remove the tray to get access to the sump plug?
Do I need to jack it up to change the oil?
Is the oil filter the thing with 25nm written on it?
I suppose a strap wrench will remove it?

Hope to become a keen member on here.

    Cheers
    Steve
