Hi,Love BMWs,driving an E39 2000 reg M5 at the moment (my M5 has NO PDC!!!)and have an E46 Alpina B3 with a PDC fault.
I know there are alot of threads but this is weird and hoping to get advice,I am new so be kind!
At first in reverse had long beep then nothing,I learned this is PDC fault warning.
First tried the "clicking" test, put car into reverse (not running) reverse lights come on, two sensors clicked, two silent. So replaced the two duff ones. Now no long beep and no sound at all.Replaced module (used part guaranteed working),no change, replaced gong (used guaranteed part, works with circuit tester)still nothing.Replaced all the sensors now with brand new ones, still does not work.Tried disconnecting battery for over two hours, attempt to reset K-BUS? clearing stored faults this did not work, still dead.My CAN fault reader does not pick up any fault codes,I think the OBDII is separate to K-BUS?? Not sure what to do next, trying to fix it myself and not about to give up and go to a dealer just yet.The gong works with a simple circuit tester, wires to gong have current going to the top two wires brown / red and yellow (when car in reverse near hedge) but not sure how to test the separate blue wire that plugs into gong.Tried GONG test No13 by pressing down trip reset button and turning on ignition but this does not work,no chiming.Maybe a lose connection but where to look???
I can live without PDC really, just another daft electronic idea thats bound to fail again and again as cars get older, its just frustrating I can't fix it.
