    Hi all

I am new to Bimmerforums and to BMWs,I currently own an Audi A4 SE.(sorry for swearing!)And I am looking at buying a BMW 318i Touring.I had a test drive in one,its a lovely looking motor, comfortable and a super drive.

Can anyone tell me how much it will cost to replace a cambelt through a BMW dealership and a specialist garage?
Also I understand that the tyres are 'run flat'.Are they expense to buy?

Finial, and this maybe a daffed question, but has anyone got pics or know of any good web sites showing what the BMW 318 touring 2007 (or any 3 series I guess all the same inside) looks like inside with interior lights on.......i.e. courtesy lights, dashboard, light around the window switches on doors etc.when driving of course with headlights on...at night....!!!

In the Audi,at night, when headlights are on, lights around the window switches and courtesy lights are lite up with a nice warm red glow.

    Cheers

    Burtie8

P.S I'D posted a simillar post last night in Gerneral Disscussions, sorry (it was later I was tired!!)

Hi Burtie and welcome - you will like it here

I'm not an expert on this model, however I belive it will be running on a chain not a belt, these are designed to last the life of the car so it won't need replacing (one of the others will correct me if I'm wrong)...

The run flat tyres are more than standard, but to be honest I wouldn't put them on out of choice - how bigger problem have punctures actually been in your life? The run flats don't give as good a ride as normal tyres and you will loose out on some grip too. Just put normal tyres on when they need changing is my advice - many people get the run flats stright off when they buy the car.

As for interior light pictures I couldn't find any sorry, but if that is a really important factor to you it is very easy to change/ upgrade the interior bulbs (10 minute job) to some that you like - there are all sorts for sale on eBay for pennies.

I'm here for a good time not a long time

    hi burtie8

Just to echo what The Panther has said, the engine has a timing chain, ditch the rft's when you come to need new tyres,
then purchase a small compressor with tyre weld.

regarding the interior lights I think you'd be wise to check that out for yourself with an evening test drive?

Good Luck in finding your new BMW

    Hi all
    Thanks for the welcome.
Panther and SlowTech, cheers for the info and advice.Totally agree with you both regarding run flat tyres and have punctures. And what a plus BM having chain and not a belt
Went for a test drive one evening in the week.Great car to drive and I do like the interior lighting!
    I shall definitely be buying a bimmer 3 series touring.Took a trip to Peterborough,to look at a SE 320i touring,sapphire black on a 57' plate.Nice looking motor,excellent condtion inside and out.Had a test drive.Fell in love with it,so I bought the car.Collecting it weekend.
