Hi I am looking to buy my first BMW. I have always been a lover of BMWs, its their shape that mainly catches my eye and my uncle who is a constant trader of BMWs, (too much money not enough brain space). Anyway I am looking a good BMW for no more than 8000, as il be trading my current car in. I would be travelling around 150 miles per week to uni, so the debate on diesel or petrol? I just want a nice BMW but dont want to rush in the first one i see. So any advice is much appreicated!!!

    Thank you!

    Melissa

If you are doing 150 miles per week, that is 7200 per year. A diesel might not work out cheaper considering it will cost more to buy.
For 8k though you should be able to get a really nice 330d E46 coupe. Or maybe a slightly higher mileage 320d coupe E92 shape.
I don't know much about diesel cars though as I always have and always will stick to petrol (plan to anyway). Go and try one out and see what you like. Also a 1 series if you like the hatchback thing. Don't forget to factor in insurance, fuel, tyres etc.
I am only 21 and the biggest cost I have is insurance (£1000) as I don't do many miles per year. I am using the train to get to uni so I can happily live with 22mpg (although I have seen much less if I am in traffic).

Best of luck finding your car.
