    Hi Everyone,

Just bought my first M3 last week....

I buy and sell cars in my spare time and I've rebuilt 1 or 2 as well. I used to have a stripped out MG ZR with a 2L Turbo in it (230bhp/ton) but I decided FWD wasn't for me.

I went to buy a cheap 328 to strip out and track/drift, however I ended up buying an amazing looking 328 sport with ACS alloys, no rust or marks and generally in excellent condition for £1,100. I decided this car was way to good to track, and I also realised how amazing the E36s are.

So instead of fitting a diff from an Evo and the 325 manifold, I thought I might as well just buy an M3 Evo instead and keep it in good nick rather than track it and I'd still be able to have fun if I wanted to.

So I bought the beast pictured above for a mere £3,000. Its spot on really although the vanos is a tad noisey, but for £3K I'm just gonna get it refurbed and I won't be complaining about the extra cost.

To be honest the M3 isn't as smooth and refined as the 328 and I don't think it's as fast as the MG ZR down the drag strip. But it looks amazing, sounds amazing and goes very sideways so I'm really chuffed with it!

Can't wait to get it refurbed, tunedup and add a few bits to it, then one day when I've saved up enough pennies add a supercharger muhahahah

You know noise alone isn't sufficient reason to worry or change it. My mates had a vanos from BM under warranty and was still not quiet

It sounds pretty rough and it needs the valves shimming too. It's also leaking oil from the exhaust side down the head, so I'm guessing it needs a seal somewhere. Mr Vanos has quoted me a good price to come out and do the work, rebuild vanos, modify cams/vanos so the noise doesnt come back and then re shib the valves too.

Hopefully it will sound as smooth as silk when its done.
