    Earlier today I bought myself a 1999 BMW 523 2.5i I6 5 Speed Manual for £350!

Why £350 ? The bodywork is mint, so is the black leather interior - However - The engine is a non runner.

The last time it ran was December 2009 when it overheated on the motorway and ended up on the hard shoulder in a cloud of steam!

However, when it was trailored to my house 2 hours ago, I hooked up a battery booster and the engine turns over, and fires a little bit. So I suspect the engine is alright!

Tomorrow, I'll change the thermostat, and get the engine running to see if it overheats, if it doesn't, then it was just a simple £5 part that failed!

However if it won't start then I might be looking at new pistons!

The other thing is it has hideous alloys on it, however my friend has just stripped a 1999 523 and it had mint condition 'Turbine' alloys fitted, and he still has them in his shed! So I'm picking them up tomorrow and only paying £60 for all 5!

This is what the 'Turbine' alloys look like if you do not know - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-5-SERIES-E...item20b61d1104

    So, I can't wait!

Once I get the alloys fitted I'll take some pictures! I fear my camera may break if I tried to picture the ones currently fitted!
