Evening all! Thought I'd best introduce myself and my new car. Picked it up on saturday, from Kings Lynn. Was an ebay purchase and a genuine shock that I won the auction!

So it was off to Kings Lynn (from Leicester) and a nice early start in my mates Sierra RS Cosworth. Drive there was ear splitting thanks to anti-lag and Launch control, combined with a stripped out Group A tarmac Rally car set-up. Very interesting drive indeed!

Arrived to collect the car, a very pleasant transaction, car was as described, better condition than I thought and we were soon on our way back. Small mishap on a greasy roundabout for my friend resulted in a bent trailing arm so recovery was organised and we both jumped in the BM for a cross country dash back to his in time for his car to be delivered back.

It's the first BMW I've owned, and within 10 miles I was absolutely SOLD. I've always loved the M cars and with luck I'll have one soon, but this is the best thing since sliced bread! So driveable and precise, I'm really pleased!

Anyway, we got back to my friends and his bent car arrived on the flatbed, so while he got the tools out and the kettle on, I gave the car a quick once over with a sponge....

    Hope that works!

I have a few plans for it but they aren't really urgent. Ideally I'd like to get a lighter (M20?) one piece flywheel, 300mm E46 330 brakes, M50 inlet and a decat. All in good time I'm sure. Just enjoying the car for now!

It has very few issues but I'd like to list them to see if anyone can shed any light on them for me!

1: It keeps telling me to check the coolant level, but I after a bit of asking it seems it is a common problem and needs bleeding. Easy fix.

2: On approaching slow junctions/roundabouts etc and snicking first when still moving (at a crawl) there is a very slight 'thunk' from the back end, possibly diff mount or one of the CV's? Has anyone had this? It is very slight but its worth asking about I guess.

3: Going along in traffic, say in 2nd or 3rd, low revs, I accellerate, and there is (again very slight) hesitation. I'm not slamming my foot down, just opening it slightly. Is this common? It's beraly perceptible but I'm a prefectionist so I would like to sort it out if I can.

4: Lastly, my boot doesn't lock! Luckily there is no way anyone can get into the car overnight but I do need a lock mechanism and key (if anyone has one for sale let me know!) it looks like someone has slammed it on something or it may have been broken into previously as there is a bit of damage around the lock viewed from the underside.

Finally, does anyone know the car? I know it had the reg CUE 1 when new, if that is any help? I dont know the full spec yet (investigating this weekend) but it has 18" CSL reps, a 328i sport spare wheel (drool) and coilovers (make tbc).

Well thats me folks, any comments or info on the car very welcome

    Steve.

Thanks patty! I see you're in kings Lynn, you didn't sell me the car did you? Haha! My spare has been on I'm sure, it's looking a bit sorry for itself at the moment. Nice weekend project to get it refurbed though

Hello Staichey and welcome to BFuk

Regarding your issues I'd try a search for similar problems within the forum or failing that start a new thread
in the relevant technical section and I'm sure you'll get them sorted in no time at all

    Hi there

re no 2 I'd say diff mount but could also be loose battery sliding around?

good luck with the rest of the stuff - check the car parts 4 sale section re your boot, always someone breaking one.
