    Hi all,

Just thought I would do a proper introduction before bombarding the forum with questions! Proud owner of a fairly standard e46 320d touring but quite a change from the porsche 944 (anyone else had to make a similar trade when a child arrives in your life), suppose at least I have kept some rear wheel driving in the family!!

As for my questions, I dont know if this is the best place to post it so please move it if its wrong. I have a question about opinions on MOTs etc. With the Porsche I took it to my indie, so that if anything did need doing to help it pass, I would be pretty sure that the best man for the job was working on it. Do people feel the same about their BMWs and take it to an indie, or do you just go to the nearest garage for MOTs. I am in Hertfordshire so could go to Bmerc or A1, but not sure if they would rather be doing services/full maintenance/performance upgrades etc as opposed to MOTs? Any suggestions welcome...

    Many thanks
    Tim

Hiya, Welcome! I would say that if you are more than happy with the indie that you have been using then why change? If your in doubt to what they could do for you then just ask.

I always go indie for MOTs and then if its needed work under warranty its been returned to the garage however if its work not under warranty thats going to be a pain in the bum for me to do then I just get them to do it. Saves a small fortune and the guys in the indies know how to get their hands dirty!

Thanks all for the welcome and suggestions. Sounds like an indie it is, I am very close to Watford avneet07, so would be more than happy to go to your one. PM me details if you want, including labour charges please - might need them to look at my wobbly gear stick whilst its in for the MOT!

We used to have an E46 320d tourer - great car - my dad was well chuffed when after 6months of ownership he opened the side compartment in the boot (which he'd only just noticed) and found a BMW cd changer in there! - he was even more chuffed with the Barry Manilow cd which had been left in there too!!!

Be interested to know how you get on in Watford as Im not too far from there either.

    Cheers,

    SVVG
