    Hi there,

I wasn't sure whether to post this here - but it is my first so I'm happy to be corrected

Just bought a 2006 318d (my first bimmer) - a former Lex leaser with 112k on the clock...!!!...it's got full main dealer history up to 80k and then inde specialist at 94k and it's being serviced for us before we pick it up tomorrow...

I guess it's a bit late for this, but I must be a glutton for punishment , but I want to know how many miles it should be good for...? I've never had a car with so many miles on before and it worries me slightly, although I've been reassured by a couple of people (non-BMW specialists) that it should be good for 150k at least

I'm not worried about resale as I intend to keep it for a while and will be doing pretty small mileage (6 - 8k a year)...

I just got rid of a Focus ST and wanted something nice to drive, economical and reliable (not high performance/fuel costs!!!) and was looking at newer, but lesser Focuses, with 40(ish)k on, but on seeing the BM decided to go for something a cut above, rather than have another Focus... the penalty for getting this at just over £6.5 grand was the mileage...

Have we done a bad thing...???

    Welcome to the site Dan

112k is nothing on a well-looked after BMW. Should be fine for at least another 100k.

    Hi halfglass,Welcome to Bimmerforums.co.uk..........

A diesel with 112K is nothing...You'll get a lot more out of it with regular servicing

Servicing...on that note...the guy we've bought it from who seems pretty genuine for a second hand car dealer reckons it needs a service every 17k...my question is, should it be 17k or 12 months or when the service indicator comes on, whichever happens first...?

...given the mileage, or does that not matter...please forgive the novice-type questions...I'll get better I promise...

Your car relies on CBS (Condition based servicing) so it will flag up any work as and when required dependent upon journey length, etc.

Oil changes tend to be every 17k miles.

Am I right in thinking that it is worth changing the oil seperator to prolong turbo life...anybody comment on this ?

I guess from the lack of contradiction of what's already been said...I'm okay to assume that I've not gone and done a bad thing by buying this...?!
