    Hi Guys
Just joined today and am looking for advice on a car I am thinking of buying and this is it.
    2002 BMW 3 SERIES 320D SE 5DR.
I have a Lexus GS300 Sport but they a bit thirsty so I want to get a BMW diesel must me BMW though, any thoughts and things I should look for before buying.
The reason I ask is before I bought the Lexus I googled it and apart from them being thirsty they seemed to be a good car but I only had it 4 months and the brake master/abs unit packed up £2000.00 + fitting.
On further investigation this was a common fault with them but not until 100.000 miles but mine went at 78000 (Lexus did not want to know) so I don't want to buy another car with an expensive known fault.

    Thanks guys
    Norman

    normanfr, Welcome to the forum

Great to see a member researching a potential purchase thoroughly before making a decision

With the model being a diesel you may wish to use the search function at the top of the screen and type in "Swirl Flaps" there are many threads that discuss this fault and there is also a thread that discusses the fitting of swirl flap blanking plates

If you still need advice after performing the search then please create a thread in the section already mentioned by stk

I thought I had researched my Lexus well but still came unstuck, the trouble is nowdays the cost to repair the older cars is just not worth it as you would never get your money back unless you want to keep the car for a few years which is something I don't do (change mine every 12 to 18 months)
