    Hi there

Recently purchased a 2005 E61 530d Sport. Spotted rear suspension error when viewing car - seller had the compressor replaced at local main dealer before I collected the car!

Getting it de-flapped tomorrow and also investigating woeful economy - 30mpg at a steady 80 on the motorway. Temp is a bit low - around 78 degrees.

Great forum - looking forward to gaining lots of knowledge.

    Cheers
    Rory

more than likely you need egr and/or main thermostat replaced mate - temp should be between 88-93C regardless of outside temp - at a steady 80mph i would expect to see 38-40mpg

p.s where are you having this work carried out - always worth noting good Indy's in "our" area (I'm in Iver)

    Thanks for the welcome guys!

Not quite in a position to recommend the indy at this stage. Only got the car back today after dropping it off on Tuesday!

Now de-flapped and the guys do seem really knowledgable. However they drew a complete blank with the fuel comsumption issue - the advice was to ignore the computer for now and measure the true mpg the old fashioned way as the computer could be way out and can be adjusted.

Mentioned the low temp and they said it was operating within the normal range and replacement of the stats was not required.

    Cheers
    Rory
