Hello to you all,
Like the title says I'm a Portuguese and I live in London.
I just got my first car here in the UK and of course, it had to be a bimmer. I got a 97 318is.
Back home I had an '89 E30 316i Edition (saloon) which I sold to get an '89 E30 318iA (coupe), which I bought in 2005/06 with 57.000 km (around 35.000 miles!!!! ) Yes, yes I know... It even smells like new when you get inside...
It belong to a lady that lived in Belgium and she used to go to Portugal like 3/4 times a year... It has 98.000km (61.000 miles) at the moment...
But know I have a new baby... a white E36 318iS
I truly love BMW and I had the advantage of, by working at DVLA's equivalent regional office in my town I met all the top guys from BMW and I used to try (test drive) everything that was coming, cars and motorcycles.
The most amazing experiences I had was with an E60 M5 (driving) and an unlimited (re-programmed by BMW) M6 (on the passenger side.
This guy bought the car and he said to BMW that he didn't want it limited, so they sent him to Germany for a special driving course, charged him 3000 euros and set up the car. The car had to be tested, so the engineer ranged and asked me if I wanted to go with him to the motorway to test it... I remember we got 180km/h (112 mph) in 3rd gear and we got a top speed of 330km/h (205mph)
My bimmers have proved to me that BMW is really "The ultimate driving machine", especially my 316i which was badly tortured in terms of agressive driving.
