    Hi all

Just bought a 316ti 03 plate. never owned a BMW before so you'll probably see me on here often asking/searching for advise

Also looking to do a few subtle mods - anthracite wheels, coilovers and de-badge

If anyone knows where I can get some good value for money coilovers please let me know, dont want to be spending a fortune.

below is a before and after of what it will hopefully look like

    Welcome to the forum buddy....

Have a look at CRN Products in the dealer part of the website they do coilovers at decent prices.

I like the idea of darker wheels. Maybe a little bigger tho....

Everyone's said that! I've never been a fan of big wheels but I think this time I might have to give in.

    Hi Mate,

I would look at common issues with the N42 Engine, first and foremost get the right oil in there and the right amount 0-30 fully synthectic castrol edge ll01 or ll04 (slx will do fine), then check the cooling system for any leaks or if your loosing coolant slowly, common areas are Expansion Tank, Radiator, Water pump and or Thermostat, hoses.

Then Engine breathing usually the pipe on top of the inlet manifold, following by the PCV\OIL Seperator sitting right under the inlet manifold.

And importantly updated cam chain tensioner, these are known to fail and cause the chain to go slack...you can imagine the rest, (simple change with no special tools invovled just a 27mm socket and it is replaced outside the engine).

Good luck with your first BM mate.

Thanks mate will be sure to check over all those points with a fine toothed comb. It's got 6 months dealer warranty so lets hope if anything is about to go, it goes before then. Its only done 79k with one previous owner and FSH so touch wood it should be sound.
