    Hi there,

I just brought a 2001 E46 330i touring over on the ferry yesterday from Northern Ireland. I paid £4500. The car has a cool NI license plate and a DVA(not DVLA) MOT certificate. Does anyone know if this could be a problem for me? The car was SORN and has no road tax. I'm just waiting on my motor insurance cert coming through the post before i can go get a new disc. Planning on leaving the vehicle in my brother's work car park in the mean time. I assume the NI DVA MOT cert is perfectly valid here.

I love this car already. Very smooth, very fast and a lovely place to be. My last car was an RX8 which had the same power and similar 0-60 time etc but it had bugger all torque and just had to be revved and revved all the time. it was huge fun but generally stressful to drive. It was widely accepted that it should be driven at 3000-4000rpm for best economy. But no matter how or where I drove it the mpg returns never strayed out of 17-21mpg. Basically it made me sweat every time i got behind the wheel even if it was just a trip to the supermarket and ultimately after 4 months of ownership I managed to lose control on a country road, go through a crash barrier, off a bridge and into a river.

Only problem that I've encoutered with the BMW after driving 50 or 60 miles is the drivers side electric window is sticky, makes horrible screeching noise when attempting to go from fully closed to open and in some cases needs to be physically helped out. I'll be checking this out on this forum later on but i assume it's fixable(at great cost no doubt!)

The car has is Titan silver with standard 18" sport alloys(MV1?) and cheapo tyres all round(triangle talons on front, federals on the rear). It has black leather interior with wood trim.

The car has had 2 owners from new-father and son- and had bmw servicing to 60000 miles then local garage after that. Currently has 99000 miles and last service was 91000 miles just over a year ago so service is now due(inspection II presumably)

Unfortunately the car has a space in the boot with cradle and wiring where the 6 disc changer should be but isn't as they weren't interested in such things. I very much am however I'm considering using the wiring for the changer and instead fitting a ipod/iphone kit with bluetooth.

Xcarlink looks good as it allows control of the ipod clicky wheel thing and presumably the iphone also. I want one that i can control from the steering wheel or the headunit, and displays song details on the headunit.
