Just like to say Hi to everyone, I'm Drinnan from Fife. This is my 2nd post as my 1st post was in the car history thread. You can read it if you want I think it's on page 23 although I didnt stick to the general rule of just posting the cars I'd owned, I have a tendancy to rabbit on a bit so posted about the memories too.

I just bought a 1993 E34 520i SE a couple of weeks ago and I'm thinking of doing a couple of things to it but generally want to keep it looking fairly standard so I'll be in the right sections when I do ask some questions. I put up a couple of pics of it. Hope I didn't get bumped as I paid £800 for it with a full years MOT that was done just a couple of days before I picked it up. I sure don't feel ripped off. It's very clean with only very minor bits of surface rust on the bottom corner of the driver's door, will be easy to sort and was expected with the year of the car. The arches are great condition, not even a bubble. The leather interior is in mint condition, only a slight bit of wear on the back/side support where the driver has been sliding in and out of the car. All the electrics work, even though the rear-driver's side window doesn't work at the moment. It's the mechanism that's popped as you hear the motor working and it still kinda moves the window up but doesn't pull it down, you have to press the motor down then move the window down by hand. Not that it bothers me, I'll soon have a look at it on a dry day.
The engine ticks over quicketly and very smoothly, there's no abnormal ticking or whirring when revving. The clutch plates are good at the 1st-5th gear slip test It's got full service history with very frequent bmw servicing stamps in the book. I love the note the engine produces and it has a nice roar when taken past 4k.

Time to end my rambling soon, I'll just finish on what I want to do with it.
Going to get sports shocks and springs to improve the handling as the car's done 167k miles and was built for comfort anyway. I don't want to give it a huge drop in ride height, the kit I'v seen is only 30mm depending on how it's settled so far. Will eventually upgrade to poly bushes. Going to add the front eye brows and a rear boot lip spoiler, I'm not really into the larger spoiler too much on the 5er. I'm in no rush for a set of wheels as I do still want the car to look fairly standard.
Engine wise I'm stuck on wether I should chip, cam, lightened flywheel.....the current 2.0L 24v engine or take my friend's older 2.5 12v and put it in. He says the 12v's are much stronger engines.... that's me for today I think I'v went on enough
