Hi all, I just thought I'd introduce myself as this is my first post.

I've owned a Subaru Impreza for the last year, and it's been great, but I feel it's time for a change - a car that's nicer to drive/be in and one that won't cost quite as much to run.

Currently scouring the net for E46 330's. Still unsure about whether to go for the petrol or diesel though, as I've heard stories of unreliability about the 330d: even though I'd really prefer a diesel for the more relaxed driving style it would offer.

I'll appreciate any advice given, because I really need it!

    Thanks
    Alan

Hi and welcome to Bimmerforums UK Alan(Flat4), good to have you on board

I'd get a petrol as they are more reliable and Petrol is cheaper if you aren't doing massive mileage

Ronnie + 1...cheaper to fix a petrol compared to diesel, especially when it comes to turbo and swirl flap damage.

Cheers for the replies so far guys. Everything is helpful, as I know very little about BMW's. Trying to find out as much as possible before I start going to view cars.

It's getting a drive of one that's the problem. I'm not a test pilot, and hate coming across like that. lol

to be fair, if you want to you can drive the petrols like a diesel (90% of the engines torque is available from 1500 rpm and it has 221lb/ft) but you wont want to once you've stretched it's legs a couple of times.
