    Hiya everyone

I have just bought my first BMW and am made up with it. Its a silver 2001 320ci with m3 wheels, tinted windows. Everything else is standard.

There are two small issues with the car tho, 1st thing is a squeeky rattle coming from back seats and a small rubbing noise coming from drivers side rear wheel. This has stopped once before when wheels were taken off but a week later; say 25 miles its back. I was told it could be plate rubbing brake discs but im no mechanic. Any ideas what these two problems could be? Thanks in advance for advice

    Future mods

    M6 alloys
    M3 style body kit
    Brembo brake kit
Maybe lowering kit (depends on look of wheels)
Head unit (what looks appropriate for the 320 interior?)
    LED rear clusters
    Angel eye headlights

Without hearing the noise, we can't really help.

Just whip the backplate off, and have a look.

Could be the pads sticking - Could be owt really.

    Oh, and hello

pics mate! welcome, and just so you don't buy the wrong parts later on, you have replica m3 wheels as real m3 wheels won't fit under your rear arches! either that or they are mv2s,

Yeah your right they are replicas mate ill take some pictures tomorrow and post them up.

Can you buy and sell on here before you have 100 posts?

The noise sounds just like if you push the springy clip on the caliper towards the centre of the car (iv'e been investigating) i know its vague but if you have pressed that yourself you would know the sound.

Ill try upload it tomorrow which could be a challenge! Ill have to get the missus to walk along side the car as i drive down the road

Hello and welcome to the forum, nice to have you with us.

Post up some pictures of your car when you can so we can have a look

Does the noise get worse or better if you slightly apply the handbrake whilst you hear the noise? The handbrake shoes "float" in the "drums" and it is quite common for these to squeak a bit against the back plate! Usually a strip down of the brakes and a good clean up will solve this problem though.

I am afraid that due to a number of problems in the past with forum spammers and members being ripped off by new members of the forum (not you, just generalising) it is not possible for new members to view the For Sale/Wanted forum until they have more than 100 USEFUL posts. Only posts in the technical forum count towards post count.

I hope that you understand, once again welcome to the forum - stick around, it does not take too long to reach the post taeget

Thanks for the input on the mods

When i say appropriate i mean subtle, stylish, head unit looks standard and fits the big space that would be left by removing the old tape/cd changer lol

So just to clarify the m6 alloys iv'e seen advertised on ebay are replicas? Just that it states on some that they come in either 18 or 19inch and fit 3 series e46

Oh i had the handbrake tightend and maybe thats when it stopped but now its loose again so you could have a point. Is there a way i could nail the symptoms to the handbreake

Yeah i understand the policy for sales i wouldnt buy something of a complete stranger

just remember when you get all the other mods, try to see in your head how they will look on the car! its just my opinion though! if you like it thats all that counts! feel free to ask advice or questions, many on here are only happy to help, and i hope you learn a few things along the way.
