    Hi folks

Just dropping in to say hello! I'm taking on a mates E39 as he is going to work abroad for a few years, so thought I'd join up to be able to get the lowdown on the issues I will inevitably encounter (well the car has done 135K, albeit well looked after!)

It's not my first forray into BMW's, as until last year I had a rather nice 123d 3dr SE auto from new as my company car. In white, Terra leather and 18 inch alloys, all the toys - a great car!

Now I run my own business I've got to be rather more careful with the pennies, hence taking up my mates offer of his E39 at a good price.

A 3dr 1 series to a 5 series estate in the space of a year? That's the effect of parenthood for you.........

Will be diving into the forums shortly!
    Adam

BTW, this is my old 123d, as I haven't picked up the E39 yet:

Then: E81 123d SE auto with all the trimmings!

Also: 1967 Triumph Spitfire, heavily modified with 2.5l straight six

    Thanks for the welcome

Not got any pics of the E39, as won't get hold of it for another couple of weeks yet. Nothing special, just a standard 525d SE touring load lugger for the expanding family.

Since starting my business we've been down to a one car family, so good to get a second pair of wheels. Well, I've got a second pair of wheels, but my Triumph Spitfire is hardly up to business trips and prams (it does, however, go like stink with a six pot in the front and all the right performance bits!)

Would have liked a big petrol E60 or E61 on LPG, but considering the 'mates rates' purchase price and available funds, the E39 is the more sensible choice ......

In my view it depends on the direction of the transplant! GT6 with a convertible tub = Gitfire, Spitfire with the six pot = Spitfire6 (the Spitfire was originally launched as the Spitfire4)

Anyway, this is a BMW forum so I'll post BMW pics when I can!
