Hi, i'm located in Australia, central coast of NSW. I have been involved with club level motorsport for a number of years, have sprinted and raced an evo 9 racecar and more recently a little Hyundai excel in a one make race series (very competitive!).
Anyway the reason i have joined is i am looking to move to Europe (germany for the first year and then France or spain perhaps) with my family and as such we'll need a decent car or two and i want something i can also use for the odd trackday or sprint event plus as a devent daily for ferrying kids around. Well that is until the inevitable bug bites again and i end up going a full hog race car lol.
But i'm going to try and remain practical for as long as possible....
The e30 m3 has long been my favourite Bmw however i just worry about the cost (prices seem to be the same if not more expensive in Europe compared to Australia) plus i really do need a car capable of carrying the family and is it worth thrashing such a collectors car on track given the relative performsnce vs cost? If i bought an e30 i'd probably look to bring it back home to Oz in 3-4 years when we move back.
Otherwise the e46 m3 seems to be probably the more 'sensible' option as it's newer, cheaper to buy and maintain and is faster out of the box. The prices of e46 m3s in Europe are very cheap compared to Australia, like half or even a third of the price. E46 m3s are taxi money compared to Oz!
Or i might even just say fuckit and buy a group A e30m3 or e46 GTR and do the race thing! Get some suv for the family!
First world problems!
