Just a quick hello,I've been reading up on potential faults with E46 320 diesels and came across this site.Within a couple of minutes I had discovered pre 2002 cars can have turbo problems so I decided to sign up and do some more digging!

I'm hoping to buy in the next couple of months after convincing the missus a four or five year old E46 will be better than a one or two year old Focus!

I just need to convince myself about running costs, servicing and parts prices.

I'm sure all you good folk on here will help!

    Hi Hairy

    Welcome to the forum mate

Your bang on the money about the pre 2003 320Ds having turbo problems....

If the car has got receipts for turbo replacement and is pre 03 then it may be fine.

Running costs are cheap as chips TBO and no different from ford prices from the main stealers..... (Ive owned a mondeo estate recently for work)

Uniparts and the ford is marginally cheaper on bits but the E46 is so popular that Eurocarparts and GSF do nearly all parts at a good discount so they are very affordable to run
