Hi, I thought I'd register after reading some sound advice before taking the plunge today and buying my first BMW. Ive bought a 2004 54 plate 300D manual saloon with 106k on clock and full BMW dealer history. I think I got it for a reasonable price (unless someone thinks different) Its in fantastic condition with fulll black leather interior, cruise etc, Can anyone give any pointers as to what I need to be checking on the car when it arrives or any essential modifications. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi mate, just got myself my first bmw aswell, a 330i m sport

As for the e46 330d I believe you might have issues with swirl flaps. I know this was a problem on earlier 320d's but not sure about the 330d. Great looking car, is it SE or the sport version?

SE version with uprated alloys so I'm told. I read something about swirl flaps briefly so I will be looking into that more closely. Good luck with your new motor. I wont be getting mine until middle of next week. Hopefully that should coincide with the snow melting!!!!

Collected the new motor today. Very! happy. Having been Ford Mondeo 1.8 petrol owner for the last 7 years the power of the 330D was slightly different!!! The build quality is excellent, so solid. Suspension is much firmer which might take a while to get used too. Did I mention the power. The look on my 6 year old daughters face when she said; "go speedy for me Dad" as we pulled onto the local empty bypass. "Dad, Dad its pushing me back in the seat!!!!" I heard from the back. Very please now where's that owners manual to see what everything does!!!
