I've never owned a BMW and currently have 2000 Laguna (190k miles!) and a 1994 Toyota MR2 (about 90k miles). I've sold the Laguna and will sell the MR2 (still love that car) but wanted to maintain my saloon/sports status. So having saved my pennies for the last few years, I've just bought 2 (yes...two) BMW's. I don't yet have them but they are both paid for
Hopefully this week I will pick up my MR2 replacement, a nice black E85 - 2004 Z4 2.2i. I know it isn't a 3.0 and actually has almost no extras except the electric roof and the CD changer (not even a 'sports' button - it does have DSC though) but I just love it's simple yet elegant interior. Less is more I think for a softtop.
I also have a 2002 E46 330ci in silver which is a rescue car. What I mean is I found this one on it's knees and I'm bringing her back from the dead. The engine is being reconditioned and I've had everything else checked. I'm no mechanic but a family member owns a garage so I'm getting everything at trade prices for the repairs. It's costing me about £3k to get her back on the road but I got her for next to nothing so it will be worth it when she's purring through the country lanes. I've not even sat in this yet but its a BMW...it'll be great right? I do know it's a full leather interior and an automatic but other than that... I've no idea what she'll be like (she's high on a ramp, still right where I found her) but the guys at the garage say she'll be singing when she's done.
I'm stupidly excited about both these cars and whilst I'm 37 yrs old, I feel like a kid at christmas. I'll post photos once I get these gem's and I'm excited to be part of this great community of BMW lovers. You guys know a great car when you see one... that's for sure...
Cheers, Beemulus. (pronounced Beem-you-luss)
p.s. It's ok to call them 'she' isn't it? or am I a nutcase...
