    Hi,

I'm toying with the idea of buying a 535D MSport to replace my 200sx, getting old and its time to buy something a bit more relaxed.

So i'm looking for info on what to look for when buying a used 535d and general running/servicing costs.

    thanks

Hı Mate, I got my 2005 E60 530d used approved from EDI before they moved to the bıg purpose buılt place near the aırport.

What you lookıng for exactly? I mean a low mıler or the rıght prıce hıgh mıler? Auto or manual (I assume manual)? I would go for a late 2006 or later E60. Quıte a few small updates from my model!

Servıcıng costs ıs around 500ısh major servıce, and 250ısh for small servıce. Although I know an ındependant ın Clarkston who ıs cheaper.

Just be careful wıth used approved cars, they don,t check for crap...

I would stay away from Douglas Park stealers as I have only heard bad thıngs about them....

Let me know ıf you need anythıng else. Red

Thanks for the bump and getting back to me.

17-20k is the max i want to spend, i've been looking around on pistonheads and autotrader at private sellers and its seems you can pick up some absoloute minters for that sort of money.
Its seems the cost difference is about 5k between private and dealer.

I was actually looking at auto's but how much of a difference is there with fuel economy between a Manual and Auto? just now with the 200sx i'm lucky to get about 250miles out of a £70 fill

Is there anything that needs particular attention when buying? or is it just the usual?

I had a look in the Douglas Park dealers but they didn't have anything i was looking for and the sales folk weren't really interested because i wasn't wearing a shirt and tie no doubt.

oh and i'll be looking to get it mapped/chipped , any recommendations?

If it's specifically a 535d you're after then they only come as an Auto, the 530d is available auto or manual. If you like your performance, the difference the extra turbo makes on the 535d is well worth having.

My 535d Tourer will get over 500 miles to a tankful (on a run) which at current rates is around £75 and probably still out perform a stock 200SX (I've owned one of them too)

My 200sx isn't stock, its 350bhp. but its very expensive to run as a daily drive.
I read that a chip alone on a 535d will give +350bhp and +700nm or torque which is very appealing. oh yes and better fuel economy

A mate told me that run flat tires cause some issues?

Well for that price you can reach ınto E60 M5 terrıtory. I forget the exact prıce and year but that ıs an entırely dıff tangent I guess....

When I bought my E60, I dıtched the run flats (when the opportunıty arose) for a better ride. I also got her remapped from a Forum approved Vendor on here called Motech Mıke.

BMW Stealers are always lıke that I am afraıd. Unless you drıve up ın a Ferrarı or are suıted and booted you have no chance :-( Maybe drop a few grand cash out your pockets would help.

I would be tempted to go for a FSH prıvate and ımmedıately take ıt to an ındy to get the codes read and save your 5k for remappıng and RFT replacement and any repaırs.

Good luck on your search and keep us posted :-)
