    Afternoon All,
Just thought I would say hello and introduce myself and my projects to you.

Actually, it should be my wife's new toy!

This is my first BMW so it's a steep learning curve, however there is so much information on the Internet it is a doddle to find any info you need.

    Anyway, the latest acquisition....

My wife has been going on all summer about getting another convertible (Having had an MGTF for a few years before) and I was getting fed up with driving a diesel Omega every day, so on a bit of a whim and without viewing it I bought this from Ebay.. I can appreciate why people like the M3 now, it's quite good at what it does!

It has 93K on the clock but no service history. It has a few electrical issues but the important bits, body work, roof and mechanics seem to be all good and it is quick. No nasty vanos noises and although not in the league of the Lotus Carlton I was planning to buy, it definitely hustles, and you can get spare parts for it which is always a bonus. It's to be used as a second car so won't be doing more than 3K a year and is on a classic insurance policy. The interior looks like it's been Tango'd but I actually quite like it.

As you can see, my wife has already commandeered the drivers seat!

    My other toy is this....

It's a rather rusty 1985 Opel Monza GSE. I've had it for around four years. In that time I've changed it from a 3.0L 12v auto to 3.0L 24v manual, added bigger front brakes and welded large amounts of new metal in to it. I'm currently welding in replacement outer sills and once that's done I'll be adding these to the side of the engine!

    On the last track day....

So as I know I have a few questions to ask here already I'll be picking your brains. I hope the search facility is good on here as I think it will be working hard for me for a while!

Welcome to the forum mate. The M3 looks a nice one, very rare on a V plate...

I love the Monza as well, as a few of the guys on here know. I have a soft spot for the old Vauxhalls/Opels......
I bet that goes much better with the 24v conversion....

Welcome to the forum and not a bad car mate, looks really good

Just one thing I noticed on the pic is the o/s wing indicator is the old type (pre '96) but the nose cone is facelift as it should be on a V reg.

Something else I've learnt! It has a few 'features' but overall it seems pretty good. Body work is superb bar two little dings.

Me too, and thay are very rare now. Sometimes I feel guilty not keeping it original but it really needed the conversion.

Hell yeah! So much so that I had to replace the rear dampers as it highlighted just how knackered they were. It's a weird conversion though which I'll bore you about one day when you need something to get you to sleep!

Well she didn't get a choice but loves it to bits, especially as it has reverse parking sensors so she can reverse it as well!

Probably, but they flash on and off at the right time and look okay to me so they're staying for now! As you can probably tell by my Monza I don't really do cosmetics. It's more important that it goes fast, stops quickly and doesn't need to slow down for corners!

    Thanks for the welcome everybody!
