hello all i have just purchased (2 weeks ago) my very first bmw ever. i was looking at getting something very sensible with good fuel economy cheap tax etc so visited a couple of dealers and test drove a corsa, astra, fiesta and was very dissapointed to say the least. but prior to this i had seen a bmw 320 coupe in topaz blue at a local independent dealer that looked lovely but did not meet the sensible criterea and was a good 8 years older than the small cars i was looking at. but on further inspection this car was mint it had its first dealer plates and keyrings and tax disc holder, first aid kit was there and complete, toolkit and torch in the glovebox!(sad i know but it all helped to see a very staight car) and it had only done 29,000 miles from new!. so i had a chat to the dealer and he showed me all the paperwork and old mot certificates and history and that just fueled my interest, one test drive later and it was mine (so much for the sensible choice) and i have got to say i am over the moon with the car (there is a little airbag gremlin that has reared its head but i have read enough about it on your great forum to be a little bit wiser now) but that has not detracted from the great car that it is, and not having much luck with other cars (german included) i hope this one is a keeper. look forward to learning lots in this place

i did pay over the odds at £4,500 but the little cars i was looking at were £8000-£9000 although the milages were not far off the bmw, and i thought that the depreciation on those cars would be depressing where as the bmw although expensive would be the better buy
