I have absolutely no idea how to do that and I am not going to pay £60 for the sake of a small piece of plastic.
I think they were trying to rip you off or they didn't know what they were talking about.

This is what I was talking about, but i don't know if its the part you require >>>Halfords | Halfords BMW Harness Adpator PC2-75-4

    Many Thanks
I don't think BMW make keys for their fuel caps....it could be a valet key though?

I'd go to the dealer to find out if a button key can be made....does the car have a standard alarm? There's probably more than one type of button key. I've got a button key, but it's not for the alarm, it operates the light on the key itself presumably to find key wholes at night (ignition/doors).

    Hi Dez

Thanks for the reply i spoke with main dealer who said it would cost me £140 for new master key. i think it has an alarm lol its got red flashing light on dash bit ? when i purchased the car it just come with standard key and a small key which is bent abit but just about opens the petrol cap. The Car is in lovely condition so just wanted the full works with the key and if it did have alarm would be perfect, think im being lazy as keep walking off after parking car coz too used to pressing a button to lock it lol

Where about on the dash? Is it not on the rear view mirror?

There is no key hole on an e46 fuel cap lol. When you lock your car, the fuel cap should lock automatically. Same when you unlock the car, the fuel cap should automatically unlock.

    Do you still have these?

I now need some new wing mirrors as some little prick decided to smash my drivers side one off last night
