hi i'm new to this so thought i would try, my bmw 325 i sport 2002 has developed a noise last night was driving all fine when suddenly started sounding like it had a major sports exhaust( which it hasnt ) after driving for about 10 mins this noise then went away. i started up this morning and again the noise was all fine about 15 mins into my journey it started sounding like a sports exhaust again - any ideas what is causing this ? thanks

Sounds like the baffle in the exhaust is on its way out! Or it could be the flexi near front of exhaust. Get it too a exhaust specialist and get it checked out!

hi thanks for the reply, i've taken it to kwik fit and they said the whole exhaust is fine no leaks or cracks and everything is fine, taken it to the garage today and hes checked the car over and cant find any problems ( no warning lights ) he hooked it up to the machine which also showed no faults and everything is running fine.

the noise seems to be getting better but not been driving too hard, its certainly more noisy at higher speeds around 65 but even at these speeds can come and go.. but some days doesnt make the noise at all... the mechanic has suggested maybe an oil service might help

    any ideas please ?
